01
Cut less than you think
With a capped cigar, remove only enough of the cap to open the draw. Cutting too far can weaken the head and make the wrapper unravel. Check the draw before lighting; if it feels open and comfortable, stop there rather than cutting more by habit.
02
Toast the foot before you commit
Hold the flame just below the foot and rotate the cigar until the edge begins to glow. Then take slow, measured puffs while continuing to rotate. The point is an even start, not a race to create a huge flame. If the burn looks uneven, pause and let it correct before overworking it.
03
Storage is consistency, not perfection
Keep cigars in a stable humidor or other suitable storage setup away from heat and direct sunlight. Sudden swings in humidity or temperature are harder on cigars than a small, steady variation. If you are unsure whether a cigar has dried out or become over-humidified, ask a trusted retailer before trying to force a quick fix.
