THE CIGAR GUIDE · STRENGTH

Cigar Strength, Without the Bullshit

Strength is the feeling a cigar leaves behind. Body is the weight of the smoke. Flavor is what you taste. They overlap, but they are not the same thing—and treating them as one is how people end up buying the wrong cigar.

01

Body, strength, and flavor are three different levers

A medium-full cigar can be creamy, peppery, rich, or balanced. A dark wrapper can bring coffee or cocoa notes without automatically making the smoke overpowering. The only useful rule is to read the whole blend profile, not just the word on the band.

02

When to reach for medium-full

Medium-full works when you want more depth, spice, or presence without moving into a punishing all-day smoke. It is a practical category for experienced smokers, and it can also work for newer smokers who slow down, eat first, and select a blend with flavor notes that actually appeal to them.

03

Choose the experience, then the wrapper

For a darker coffee-and-cocoa direction, start with a Maduro or Broadleaf profile. For pepper, cedar, and layered spice, Habano is a useful direction. For cream, bread, cedar, and white pepper, Connecticut can be the answer—but it is not a promise of a mild smoke. Take the finder if you want the recommendation based on your own answers.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Straight answers.

What does medium-full cigar strength mean?+

Medium-full generally describes a cigar with a more assertive nicotine presence and flavor concentration than a mild or medium cigar, while still leaving room for balance and complexity. The actual experience depends on the complete blend and your tolerance.

Does a strong cigar always taste harsh?+

No. Strength, body, and harshness are not the same. Construction, combustion, balance, pace, and the blend itself affect whether a fuller cigar feels refined or rough.

Which JSK blends are medium-full?+

Red Knight, Kralot, Crna Nok, Zlatno Sonce, Tyrannical Buc, and Toothpick 2.0 are listed in the JSK lineup with medium-full profiles. Their wrappers and tasting notes differ substantially, so compare the full blend details before choosing.
